N-Methyl Pyrrolidone (NMP)
TECHNOLOGY FOR THE PRODUCTION OF N-METHYL PYRROLIDONE (NMP)
N-Methyl Pyrrolidone (NMP) is a colourless liquid, general-purpose dipolar aprotic organic solvent. Its several advantages include: low volatility; fully miscible with water and most organic solvents; high selective solvent (including inorganic salts); chlorine free; high biodegradability; non-corrosive; low surface tension; high thermal/chemical resistance; high flash point.
NMP is widely used in many fields of application, such as: electronic industries, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, paints and coatings, oil and gas.
CONSER offers a simple, competitive process for production of N-Methyl-Pyrrolidone (NMP) from Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) and Mono-Methylamine (MMA). As alternative feedstock, ammonia and methanol can be used in place of MMA.
The process uses a continuous reaction system, yielding the total conversion of GBL, assuring an NMP product meeting the highest quality standards.
